The app combines different mapping technologies to create customised routes for micromobility devices.
Now available in all 50 U.S. states, ScootRoute is said to be the first app of its kind designed specifically for micromobility travel, allowing users to have voice activated, custom navigation for motor scooters, e-scooters, bikes, and e-bikes.
The app allows riders the to personalise their ScootRoute based on preferences, including incline tolerances, traffic, top speed (mph) and road type. Once the customised route is set, ScootRoute provides a turn-by-turn voice navigation system and favourite routes can be saved through the app.
ScootRoute founder, Meghan Braley, said: “Being a Vespa rider for more than 10 years, commuting with endless traffic, sporadic bike lanes and confusing signals is frustrating. Popular navigation apps would route me on to highways and off-road bike trails, and I couldn’t find the best and safest streets to get to my destination. Fully committing to the launch of ScootRoute, I left my senior level position at a fintech company, partnered with a local development shop focused on startups and created ScootRoute, a navigation app designed exclusively for the growing micro-mobility market.”
ScootRoute is free to download on both Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS devices.
