RSL delivers accessible, improved bus information to Nottingham residents

RSL has helped passengers at Nottingham’s Victoria Centre Bus Station more easily find bus transport information by providing ten 46-inch electronic real-time information displays. The displays are part of a major £500 000 revamp of the bus station, aimed at encouraging more residents to use buses.

Nottingham’s passengers have been enthusiastic about the new electronic displays, which show live departures and route maps. As Ian Acocks, from Wollaton, said: “The display boards have made a big difference. They’re easy to use and a great help for everyone travelling.”¹

This supports research that shows that if people can find transport information quickly and easily, they are more likely to travel by bus.²

With over two million passengers and over 150,000 buses departing from the station every year, Councillor Jane Urquhart, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transportation, said: “These improvements will make travelling by public transport in Nottingham even better. By making the environment a more informative and comfortable place… public transport becomes a more appealing way to travel for even more people.”¹

As well as the displays already installed, RSL is providing even more ways for people to access and view passenger transport information at the bus station. RSL’s Regional Sales Manager, Adrian Greenslade, explained: “We’re delighted to be part of the modernisation of Nottingham’s Victoria Centre bus station. Following its successful re-opening, we are working closely with Nottingham City Council to provide additional information displays for the city’s bus passengers. These include two more 46-inch displays, five interactive totems and a display screen for the travel shop.”
