Passenger Focus has announced results of the latest Tram Passenger Survey conducted in March 2015.
Over 4900 passengers were surveyed last month in Blackpool, Greater Manchester, the West Midlands, Nottingham, Sheffield and Edinburgh.
Results of the second and latest Tram Passenger Survey revealed overall satisfaction remained at the high levels recorded in 2013 despite an increase in engineering works. Results show almost eight in ten passengers satisfied with the punctuality of their service and 61 percent were satisfied with the value for money of their journey. Passenger Focus believes operators and transport authorities have used the results of the previous survey as a guide for future changes and have made real improvements for passengers.
Despite the positive feedback, Passenger Focus believes there is still room for improvement. Across networks passengers would like to see improvements made to the inside of the trams, particularly more seating, and for tickets to be cheaper.
Passengers in Edinburgh were surveyed for the first time this year and had among the highest levels of satisfaction, at 95 per cent.
Passenger focus encourages operators to learn from the latest results and use them make services better for passengers especially during times of expansion and rebuilding.
