The European bike-sharing operator, nextbike by TIER, has announced a significant expansion into Portugal, bringing its innovative bike-sharing system to the City of Barcelos for the first time. Following its recent success in Spain, nextbike is set to revolutionise sustainable mobility in the coastal city.
Partnering with the local public transport provider, Transdev Portugal, nextbike will introduce the tuba bike system, featuring 200 of its latest GPS-locatable SMARTbikes. These state-of-the-art bikes will provide residents and visitors with a convenient and environmentally friendly transportation option. The bike-sharing system will be strategically placed across approximately 50 virtual stations, allowing for easy access and adaptability to the dynamic needs of the community.
What sets this initiative apart is its integration into the local public transport fare system, making tuba bike easily accessible to the public and seamlessly connecting various modes of transportation. This holistic approach aims to enhance the city’s sustainable mobility offerings and contribute to a transport revolution in Barcelos.
